A new report, released by State Farm, estimates that one out of every 120 North Dakota drivers will hit a deer this year.

That statistic puts North Dakota at 16th highest in the nation. South Dakota, on the other hand, ranks 5th in the nation with 1-in-82 odds.

Drivers in West Virginia have the highest odds of hitting a deer, at 1-in-39. Hawaii has the lowest, at 10,281.

Pennsylvanians will hit the most deer, according to the report. It's projected that over 123,000 deer will be hit in Pennsylvania this year.

According to InForum, State Farm gives these tips for deer-season driving:

  • Always wear a seat belt.
  • At night, when there is no oncoming traffic, use high beams.
  • Avoid swerving when you see a deer. Stay on the road.
  • Scan the road and ditches well ahead of your vehicle for deer and other signs.
  • Do not rely on devices such as deer whistles.
