Another ambush on police has occurred again this morning in Baton Rouge, LA. (July 17th) At this time, the information is early as this is still an active investigation.

According to Townsquare Media station, KPEL-FM in Lafayette, La. The incident happen around the Old Hammond Highway area, near the Baton Rouge Police headquarters in Downtown Baton Rouge.

Early reports indicate as many as 10 officers were shot and CNN is confirming 3 officers dead. Several agencies responded to the shooting including the Baton Rouge Police Department, and surrounding agencies from area parishes including the ATF from the New Orleans office.

Update 3:40 p.m.

Officials addressed the media today including the Mayor Kip Holden and Gov. John Bel Edwards at 3 p.m. today. They informed the nation "there is no active shooting situation in Baton Rouge at this hour".

A total of 6 officers have been shot. Three officers from the Baton Rouge Police Department and three from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Deputies. 2 BRPD officers are dead and one dead from the Sheriff's department.

The man with the automatic weapon was shot and killed by the police on the scene. He is a 29 year old male, Gavin Long.
