A new study shows that Bismarck is among top ten cities in the country to be working if you're a female.

According to NerdWallet, Bismarck ranks 8th in the United States for working women. The factors used in the study are based on women's earnings and rate of labor force participation. It also factors in the cost of living by examining rent costs, as well as the 2015 unemployment rate.

In Bismarck, the percentage of women in the workforce is greater than men by 0.4%. The city also has the lowest average 2015 unemployment rate of the top ten cities by 2.4%. The national average is 5.3%. Several residents in Bismarck in state, federal, and local government. According to the Bismarck-Mandan Development Association, the major employers are Sanford Health, CHI St. Alexius Health and the Bismarck Public School District.

For the study, 529 cities in the country were analyzed. The top three are also from Minnesota; Rochester, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.
