Bismarck is having a celebration for its 145th birthday on Tuesday (July 11, 2017).

The city was officially founded on May 14, 1872 but the party is tomorrow at the North Dakota Heritage Center. Bismarck has celebrated 'Founder's Day' every year since their 140th birthday.

This year's theme is "Agriculture is Always in the News." It certainly has been in the news this summer with the major drought the entire state is experiencing including here in Bismarck.

Papa's Pumpkin Patch, Bismarck Garden Club, Day Lily Club, Burleigh County Centennial Farms, Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, and Native American Agriculture are among the groups that will be in attendance for the celebration.

The festivities will be from 5pm to 8pm at the Heritage Center.
