A 34 year old Bismarck woman has allegedly admitted to embezzling over $12,000 from the Bismarck High School Demonette's Booster Club.

Melissa Rae Weltz was formally charged in South Central District Court today (February 18th) with felony theft of property. If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison.

In an affidavit filed by Bismarck Police Detective Chad Spotts, Weltz admitted to fellow club members to the theft, which was originally reported to police back in December. Weltz sited financial difficulties as the motive behind the theft.

A formal hearing in the case has not been scheduled.
