I feel for the graduation class at the University of Mary.  It's a fine school, and the grads were entitled to a fine speech - unlike the pandering horseflop they actually got.

Congressman Kevin Cramer, speaking at the commencement ceremony linked legalizing abortion with school shootings.  (Full story here, via the Forum)

“Forty years ago, the United States Supreme Court sanctioned abortion on demand,” he said in his speech at the university on May 4. “And we wonder why our culture sees school shootings so often.”

Cramer also bemoaned the celebrity status thrust upon Bismarck newscaster A.J. Clemente after he uttered vulgarities in his first words on air and highlighted the Christian beliefs of America’s founding fathers.

Yeah, ol' A.J. made out like a bandit, didn't he.  Got all the way to Delaware.  Life just ain't fair sometimes...

Perhaps Rep. Cramer could explain how he can say what he said, when violent crime is down from 1973 (the year of Roe v. Wade).

...and why those conservative Christian Founding Fathers would say things like this...

...or this...

...or even this...

No matter.  He doesn't have to explain anything to the faithful.  In a world (or a state) where a plurality of registered voters have their heads firmly planted where the sun don't shine, and common sense just ain't Christian, gladhanding demogogues like  Cramer have nothing to fear from facts.  And to paraphrase H.L. Mencken, no one in North Dakota ever lost an election by underestimating the intellegence of the voter.

I do feel sorry for the grads at Mary, however.  They deserved better.

Postscript: During the commencement, Cramer also received an honorary doctorate degree in leadership.

The hell with it...where's my propeller hat...
