Dave Matthews made a trip to Fort Yates, ND earlier this week to help promote the Turnaround Arts program at Standing Rock Elementary School.

The frontman for the Dave Matthews Band is a mentor for the Turnaround Arts program, which is a national organization that promotes the incorporation of arts programs into schools.

Art displays are constantly displayed throughout the hallways at Standing Rock Elementary thanks to the inclusion of the Turnaround Arts program, which is in its third year, at the school.

In an interview with KFYR, fifth-grade teacher Kolette Medicine mentioned how excited and thankful the kids were for attending the visit from Matthews and how it was important to show him the passion the teachers show for each kids education.

The key message that Matthews hoped to bring to the kids at Standing Rock is that "art can play a role in any school subject". The musician also visited the middle school while in Fort Yates.
