Dry Conditions are Forcing Cattlemen To Sell Cattle

With little or no rain in the area, local farmers, ranchers and cattlemen are feeling the heat.

According to the Bismarck Tribune, many ranchers are selling off their cattle at the local auction barn because there is no grass, no water and very little hay.

The bottom line is cattlemen had a tough winter and with the dry conditions, they have very little or no feed and as a last resort, it's time to sell heads of cattle. The less cattle a ranchers has, the lower the cattleman's overhead.

North Dakota has had a dry three months with portions of the state receiving less than 50% of normal rainfall. Records indicate, Bismarck had the 7th driest spring on record.
