FARGO, N.D. (AP) — An FBI forensic examiner says DNA from murder suspect Valentino Bagola was found underneath the fingernails of one of the two children he's accused of murdering on the Spirit Lake Reservation.

Bagola is on trial in Fargo in the May 2011 deaths of 9-year-old Destiny Shaw-DuBois and her 6-year-old brother, Travis DuBois Jr. Authorities allege Bagola stabbed the two children to death after sexually assaulting the girl. His defense claims the children's father confessed to the killings.

The Forum newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1aSRCL1 ) that FBI examiner Chastity Davis testified Tuesday that the girl's DNA likely got underneath Bagola's fingernails through scratching. But Davis also said she could not rule out casual contact.

Davis also said Bagola's DNA was not found on knives that authorities believe to be the murder weapons.
