It was a day of mourning in Belcourt as a favorite son was laid to rest.
Friends, family and thousands of law enforcement officers turned out to honor Roulette County Deputy Colt Allery, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

The 29 year-old deputy was shot to death last Wednesday following a car chase. The man who shot him later turned the gun on himself.

NBC North Dakota News says at least 2,000 people attended Tuesday’s service, with 1,200 law enforcement officers from across the United States and Canada.
