Less than two weeks before the start of the 2016 season, Carson Wentz was the Eagles third string quarterback behind Sam Bradford. On Sunday afternoon, the two quarterbacks faced each other head-to-head.

Coming into the game, both quarterbacks had experienced much success. Bradford brought the Vikings into Philadelphia with a perfect 5-0 record. Wentz has been making headlines all season long after leading the Eagles to a 3-0 start.

However, following the Eagles bye week, Philadelphia lost two in a row. It was up to Wentz to get his team back on the winning track against one of the league's top contenders.

The two teams had trouble maintaining possession of the ball early in the game.

However, Bradford returned the favor. Rodney McLeod picked off the former Eagles first string quarterback in the end zone on the ensuing possession giving the ball back to Wentz and the Eagles at their own 20. It was Bradford's first interception pass of the year and the first turnover for the Vikings offense this year.
Unfortunately though, Wentz fumbled the football trying to hand it off to Darren Sproles on the next possession. The ball popped right out of Wentz's hands and the Vikings took over on offense inside the red zone yet again. But on the very next play, Bradford was stripped of the ball, and the Eagles recovered.

Then in keeping with the barrage of first quarter turnovers, Wentz threw
another interception three plays later. John Sodak had the call on Westwood One.

The first quarter ended without anymore turnovers but also without any points for either side.

The Vikings finally picked up the first points of the game with 9:01 left to go in the first half following a Blair Walsh 48 yard field goal. The Eagles' Josh Huff returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.

On the point after, the Vikings were called for running into the kicker and so the Eagles opted to go for a two point conversion from the one yard line. Wentz ran the ball into the endzone for the score. The Eagles took an 8-3 lead.

The turnovers would continue towards the end of the half when Sam Bradford was stripped again and the Eagles took over with less than three minutes to go in the half. Wentz was able to convert on a fourth down to keep the drive alive but the drive ended with just three points. The Eagles took an 11-3 lead into the half.

In a useless bit of trivia, it was the first time in NFL history that there was a score of 11-3 at halftime.

Finally Wentz found the endzone with 5:49 left in the third quarter completing a five yard pass to Dorial Green-Beckham and the Eagles took an 18-3 lead.

Regardless, the Eagles handed the Vikings their first loss of the season.

Wentz finished the day 16 of 28 (57.1%) for 138 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and a fumble.

Bradford was 24 of 41 (57.5%) for 224 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The 4-2 Eagles will take on the division rival Dallas Cowboys next week. The 5-1 Vikings play the Bears next Monday night.
