Friends and family of American women and children killed recently in Mexico have set up a GoFundMe page to benefit surviving relatives.

KXMB-TV News reports the two families involved have North Dakota connections, specifically the Williston area.

Authorities say members of the LeBaron and Langford families died when Mexican cartel members opened fire on their SUVs, apparently mistaking them for a rival cartel.

“We are raising funds to help gather all family members together, pay for medical and funeral expenses and anything else that comes up as they mourn this loss,” say the organizers of the funding page.

President Donald Trump, and the members of North Dakota's congressional delegation, including Sens. Kevin Cramer and John Hoeven, and Rep.-at large Kelly Armstron have issued statements expressing sympathy for the victims and their families.

The page so far has collected over $17,000, including several anonymous donations. The page is linked here.
