Several agencies responded to a grass and field fire in South Burleigh County this afternoon, just south of University of Mary.

Bismarck Rural Fire Department responded to this grass fire this afternoon about 3PM. Smoke can be seen for miles.

The location of the fire was in and around Sibley Drive.

According to officials from the scene, Mandan Fire Department was also dispatched to help extinguish the fire. Also on scene was Fish and Game and Burleigh County Sheriffs Department.

Strong wind conditions seems to help the fire spread. We also witnessed ranchers and farmers moving cattle from the area.

The area is still under the influence of a Red Flag Warning as conditions are favorable for fire and the spread of fire.

As of press time, authorities were still on the scene.

Update- 5:50PM- According to officials on scene, a voluntary evacuation was issued and most of the roads in and around the area are blocked by local officials including North Dakota State Police and Burleigh County Sheriffs. Cars on University South are being stopped. This video is from University of Mary.
