Islamic Terrorist Group Threatens Mall of America in New Video

In a new video, Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab specifically threatened the Mall of America, in Bloomington, MN, along with two other malls in Canada.

According to InForum, the Mall of America stepped up security on Saturday, February 21st, after the video was made public. Federal law enforcement officials are currently investigating the video.

The Mall of America released the following statement, regarding the threats:

We will continue to monitor events with the help of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies,” the statement said. “As always, we take any potential threat seriously and respond appropriately. Mall of America has implemented extra security precautions, some may be noticeable to guests, and others won’t be. We will continue to follow the situation, along with law enforcement, and will remain vigilant as we always do in similar situations. The safety and security of our guests, employees and tenants remains our top priority.

al-Shabaab has ties to al-Qaida and is probably best known for their claimed involvement in the 4-day siege of the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, which left 60 dead in 2013.
