As the school year is creeping up quickly, we have the countries best and worst school systems as reported by Wallet Hub.

It seems like June and July lasted for only 10 minutes and here we go with another school year just weeks away.

Just in time for the start of the school year, Wallet Hub ranked the school systems from best to worst in the country.

Parents have choices in their child's education. There is public education and private education while some parents decide to home school. Public education is the most popular for the simple reason, some families can not afford private education.

The quality of public education in each state depends on the funding the state's school system receives from various sources including federal, state and local governments. Plus states that have an education tax or taxes paid by residents have proven to have better school systems in their states.

Wallet Hub examined several factors including class size, educational funding, quality of educators and class size to determine the best performing school systems in the country.

The top states for education are

  1. Massachusetts
  2. New Jersey
  3. Connecticut
  4. New Hampshire
  5. Vermont

The worst states for education include Louisiana, New Mexico, Alaska and Arizona.

North Dakota eked out at #11 in the country which is something we should be proud of! North Dakota ranked second in the nation with the lowest teacher to student ratio.
