Dan's Supermarkets in Bismarck and Mandan have been sold to SpartanNash Company according to the grocers' owners, the Rockstad Family.

This buy includes the stores in Mandan and Bismarck for a total of six stores. This is the same company that bought the Dickinson area stores in December of 2013. The stores will continue use the Dan’s name. Customers will notice a huge change and current employees will continue to be employed with the new company. The purchase is expected to be finalized in early June.

In terms of change to Dan's, when SpartanNash company took over the stores in Minot there were noticeable changes.

"Cooper Whitman, the director of the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce said, when SpartanNash took over the Dickinson stores, there were major changes, all for the better.

Whitman said product selection and customer experience were improved — from fresh squeezed orange juice available daily to shorter lines to a large new store.

Dan's has operated in Bismarck-Mandan for 65 years.
