The ride-sharing service, Lyft, and the North Dakota Department of Transportation are teaming up to give those who get a ride through Lyft a nice discount this holiday season.

Starting Friday, December 14th and running through Monday, December 31st, the first 1,000 Lyft users who ride from 5pm to 2am, each day, will get 10 dollars off their ride-sharing fee when they enter a code through the Lyft app. The discount can only be used for Lyft services, but there is no limit on how many times a person can use the code from December 14th to December 31st.

The reason for the discount is because North Dakota was one of five states that received a grant through the Governor's Highway Safety Association.

The discount is also being given out to help cut down on drinking and driving during the holiday season. In 2017, about 50 percent of motor vehicle fatalities were alcohol-related and approximately 1 in 6 adult arrests were for DUI.

The discount code will be available, starting December 14th, at the Vision Zero website.
