EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — City leaders in a Twin Cities suburb are asking for citizen help to spot old, decaying trees before they become a hazard.

The city has acknowledged the tree that fell and killed 56-year-old Nina MacKay last Friday was compromised by decay. But in this case, there were no outwards signs the tree was a problem. MacKay was walking her dogs when the basswood tree snapped and fell on her. She died at the scene.

KMSP-TV says a memorial around a cross at the site continues to grow. A funeral service for MacKay is scheduled for Saturday.
