DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A 55-year-old North Dakota man has been sentenced to more than one year in federal prison on a child pornography charge.

David Fugere, of Dickinson, pleaded guilty last week to possession of materials depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities say Fugere possessed 23 images of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Fugere to one year and four months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

The case was brought as Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
