Sex offenders in North Dakota are required to register and provide their address.

However, according to North Dakota's sex offender website, "North Dakota law does not prohibit sex offenders from living near schools, parks, or daycare facilities unless a condition of probation prohibits it."

Anyone in the state of North Dakota can type in an address and find out how many sex offenders live within 5 miles or less of that particular location.

When we typed in the address of Roosevelt Elementary school in Bismarck and excluded sex offenders who are currently behind bars, the search results revealed that there are 98 sex offenders living within just five miles of Roosevelt Elementary school.

Of the 98 sex offenders, there are 12 who are considered "sexually dangerous." According to the North Dakota sex offender website:

A sexually dangerous individual is someone who has been committed for custody and treatment by a court after making findings that the person 1) engaged in sexually predatory conduct, and 2) has a disorder or dysfunction making them likely to engage in further acts of sexually predatory conduct.

Of the 12 "sexually dangerous" individuals, nine of them committed crimes involving minors. Even many of the offenders not considered "sexually dangerous" committed crimes against minors.
