Four teachers in North Dakota are being recognized by the Obama administration for their efforts in teaching math and sciences.

The White House has announced the winners of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching for this year. One of the recipients happens to teach right here in Bismarck, Loni Miller, a science teacher at Saxvik Elementary School in Bismarck. The other educators receiving the award are Jonathan Fugleberg, a math teacher at May-Port CG High School in Mayville, Michelle Strand, a science teacher at West Fargo High School, and Angela Stoa-Lipp, a math teacher at Kennedy Elementary School in Fargo.

The teachers were among 213 nationwide that were recognized for the award. Among the award recipients, all 50 states are represented, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Territories, and the Defense Department Education Activity schools.

The winners will recieve a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.retion. They will be honored in Washington on Sept. 8.
