Odds of Deer-Car Collision Down

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The odds of motorists crashing into deer in North Dakota have dropped dramatically.

State Farm's annual ranking of deer-vehicle collisions shows that the likelihood of vehicle-deer collisions in North Dakota is down by nearly 25 percent from last year. That is the largest drop among 41 states where deer crashes are most likely.

The chance of a motorist hitting a deer this year in North Dakota is 1 in 123.

North Dakota ranks 17th on the list, down from 10th a year ago.

State Farm uses claims data and state licensed driver counts from the Federal Highway Administration for its rankings.
