KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) — Officials in Dunn County want to make sure that new workers in the oil patch are prepared for a North Dakota winter.

Emergency management officials scheduled an open house at the Masonic Lodge in Killdeer on Wednesday evening to give new residents information about what kind of weather to expect over the coming months.

County Emergency Manager Denise Brew tells The Dickinson Press that many people who have come to the region to work have no idea of how cold it can get in North Dakota. She says people who are living in recreational vehicles are being especially targeted.
