The SWAT team was called to the 2100 block of Koch Drive after Bismarck police heard a gun shot Tuesday (8/25) evening.

The Bismarck Police Department was originally called to the apartment building to conduct a welfare check. A local employer became worried that a man hadn't shown up for work in several days. Co-workers, who were also concerned, visited the man's apartment and smelled a foul odor. Once officers arrived they heard a gun shot and the SWAT team was called.

It wasn't long before police carrying tactical rifles showed up. The apartment building was quickly evacuated and a robot was sent in to check the first floor.

A man was found deceased from what is assumed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man's name has not been released. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
