Every now and then, a simple question becomes a heated debate. The latest example: do you say 'dinner' or 'supper'?

Many see the two terms as interchangeable. Case in point, the definitions are nearly identical.

  • Dinner - "the main meal of the day, eaten in the evening or at midday"
  • Supper - "the evening meal, often the principal meal of the day"

Some argue it depends where you are regionally. Others say it's a generational thing. Everyone we've spoken to in our incredibly scientific poll almost unequivocally refers to the meal as 'dinner'.

Our staff is made up of people from all over the country. This is how it plays out at our office:

  • Larry (Louisiana): Dinner
  • Alyssa (Wisconsin): Dinner
  • Matt (Michigan): Dinner
  • Joey Dee (Washington): Dinner
  • Randy (New York): Dinner
  • Lauren (North Dakota): Supper
  • Scott (North Dakota): Supper

Where do you stand?
