HAZEN, N.D. (AP) — Basin Electric Power Cooperative says it has turned to trucks to help haul coal in western North Dakota because rail shipments can't keep up.

The Bismarck Tribune reports a fleet of dump trucks owned by Northern Improvement has been running up and down Highway 200 supplementing coal deliveries that can't be met by rail shipments.

Basin spokesman Curt Pearson says trucks are making up to 250 trips daily to keep up with what can be normally delivered in two train loads.
