DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Dickinson man who allegedly choked his girlfriend until she passed out has been sentenced to serve five years in prison.

Matthew Foxworthy initially faced attempted murder and other charges. He pleaded guilty to lesser counts of aggravated assault and fleeing police, and prosecutors dropped the attempted murder charge.

KXMB-TV reports Judge Zane Anderson this week sentenced Foxworthy to 15 years in prison with 10 years suspended for the June 2012 incident.
