Fargo Marathon Gets New Course For Anniversary
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officials are shaking up the course for the Fargo Marathon's 10th anniversary next year.
The marathon has started and finished at the Fargodome the last eight years. Next year, it will start on the Veterans Memorial Bridge, where the inaugural event started in 2005, and finish on Broadway near the Fargo Theatre.
Marathon Executive Director Mark Knutson tells The Forum newspaper that officials decided to return the race to its downtown roots to do something different for the anniversary.
The Fargo Marathon has grown from 2,600 runners in 2005 to more than 24,000 last year competing in different races over a three-day period. Next year's event is scheduled May 8-10.
