Video and transcripts show how a pregnant Minnesota woman ended up shooting and killing her boyfriend in a YouTube stunt that went horribly wrong.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports 20 year-old Monalisa Perez pleaded with Pedro Ruiz not to make her go through with the stunt last summer.

Norman County authorities released videos, evidence and transcripts Friday showing that Mr. Ruiz planned and directed Ms. Perez in the June 26, 2017, incident.

"I can't do it, babe," said Ms. Perez at one point in the transcript.

In a series of videos some call reminiscent of the TV show Jackass, Mr. Ruiz described how he planned to hold an encyclopedia in front of his chest as the girlfriend fired a gun at him.

Despite protesting, Mr. Perez did fire the weapon. The bullet passed through the encyclopedia, killing Mr. Ruiz.

Ms. Ruiz, pregnant at the time with the couple's second child, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 180 days in jail.

Video of the actual shooting was not part of the material released to the public.
