Last year, Drew Brees teamed up with Animal Planet’s reality show Treehouse Masters to create a luxurious mountain retreat in northwest Montana, about 13 miles north of the resort town of Whitefish.

According to Yahoo!, the former NFL quarterback intended to build a new home on the site. However, he shifted plans and listed the guesthouse for sale earlier this year with a nearly $8 million price tag.

Since then, the price has dropped to $7.5 million. With no buyers yet, listing agent Sean Averill of PureWest Christie’s International Real Estate has decided to put the entire 20-acre property within the exclusive gated Homestead community up for auction through Concierge Auctions.

Bids are expected to start between $2 million and $4 million. According to the listing, “the offering includes multiple building sites, allowing the new owner to build and create their own dream estate.”

The centerpiece of the property, known as the "On the Rocks Ranch Treehouse," is a double A-frame structure raised 15 feet off the ground. Initially conceived as a guesthouse for a larger main residence, the 1,700-square-foot home features four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Inside, the space boasts a combination of Douglas fir and whitewashed oak floors, natural hemlock paneling, high wood-beam ceilings, and expansive glass windows throughout.

The treehouse, which is fully furnished, includes standout features such as an entry door crafted from salvaged redwood from California water tanks and a living room with a cable-supported ceiling.

French doors open onto a deck with a propane fire pit, offering sweeping views of the Whitefish Mountains and Glacier National Park. The dining area is centered around a live-edge wood table, while the kitchen is outfitted with concrete countertops, a decorative tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, a farmhouse sink, and a wine fridge.

Among the sleeping arrangements, three lofted areas—one currently set up as a yoga space—complement a primary bedroom on the main floor with a Juliet balcony and custom closet. The bathroom features dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub, and a glass-enclosed shower.

The property also offers a range of community amenities, including hiking and biking trails, equestrian facilities, a shooting and archery range, and access to two lakes for fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. In winter, residents can enjoy skiing at Whitefish Mountain Resort, just 20 miles away.

“This treehouse is a personal sanctuary where our family could escape into nature and enjoy the peace and freedom of Montana’s wilderness, while still having access to the amenities of the Homestead community,” Brees said in a press release. “We worked closely with Pete Nelson and the Treehouse Masters team to craft something truly unique. This fulfilled a childhood dream for me, and it’s a special place.”

Brees, who retired in 2021 after a 20-year NFL career—15 of those with the New Orleans Saints, where he led the team to a Super Bowl XLIV victory—reportedly plans to maintain a presence in Montana, as he owns another ranch in the area.

Private previews of the property are available by request. The no-reserve auction will run online from September 12 to 26, with a live final event in Hong Kong on September 27, part of Concierge Auctions’ global sales series. A $100,000 deposit is required for bidders.
