Now, I’ve always been a Bud Light kind of person, but recently, I’ve been leaning toward my dad’s favorite—Coors Light. Still, there’s no shortage of brews to choose from when it comes to football season, and some states have surprising preferences.

Here’s what GET (Grand Europian Travel) found when they crunched the data on beer preferences across the Midwest:

  • North Dakota loves the domestic favorite, Keystone, while Corona tops the charts as the international pick.
  • Montana sticks with Bud Light for domestic beer but still leans towards Corona internationally.
  • South Dakota also favors Bud Light but opts for Kronenbourg as the international choice.
  • Minnesota is keeping things interesting with Einstok as their overall top beer, while Hamm's reigns supreme for domestic lovers.

No matter what you’re sipping, beer and football are truly a winning combination. So, grab your brew of choice, kick back, and enjoy the game!

Methodology: GET (Grand Europian Travel) analyzed Google Trends search data from July 2023 to July 2024 to determine each state’s favorite domestic and international beers.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
