Williston Coyote baseball finished a strong week and a solid last seven days of baseball after inclement weather pushed back their opening non-conference games.

Last week, WHS opened up their conference season play with a two-game sweep in Watford City on Thursday.

While most other teams took part in several non-conference games, the Coyotes got their first action in WDA counters.

Those two conference wins were followed up by a non-conference doubleheader win over Minot North on Friday.

Turn the page to this week when WHS had two Bismarck teams in their path. The first was a trip to Bismarck to play Century in Bismarck, and the result was the same as their previous two doubleheaders: two wins.

Next up was Legacy coming to town on Thursday, and while the Coyotes would have their first home games of the year, they would not come at the friendly confines of Aafedt Stadium.

Instead, the Coyotes would take action at Phil Rabon Field on the campus of Williston State College.

In game one, Williston used a late power explosion to bring home a pair of runs to win by the final of 3-1; however, in game two of the matchup against the Sabers, the Coyotes could not hold on to a three-run sixth-inning lead and fell to Legacy by the final of 8-5.

That first conference loss of the season (5-1) dropped them into second place in the conference standings; however, they remain tied with Dickinson (7-1) in the loss column.
