Top Eats: These Iowa, Minnesota Restaurants among Best in America
Part of the challenge of dining out is finding that perfect place to satisfy your 'foodie' cravings.
The help make it easier for you, USA Today didn't just rehash some reviews from food critics, they actually sent out their own people to dine in establishments all across America so they could compile the list of the Restaurants of the Year 2024.
There are 47 in all, representing 27 different states and a trio of Iowa and Minnesota restaurants made the cut.
Harbinger - Des Moines
This restaurant, on Ingersoll Avenue, has been around since 2018 and is the creation of five-time James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef: Midwest, Joe Tripp.
Harbinger specializes in 'vegetable-forward small plates', which come from Tripp's annual visits to Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand.
The Webster | Iowa City
Located on North Linn Street, The Webster was created by Chef and restaurateur Sam Gelman. The building housing the restaurant is on the same site where a drugstore once stood that he visited for lunch with his father and grandfather as a youngster.
Small plate menu items are the focus to encourage sharing among tablemates. Menus change seasonally.
Owamni - Minneapolis
Pine Ridge, South Dakota native Sean Sherman launched the restaurant after ruining the successful food truck, Sioux Chef.
The South First Street location overlooks the Owámniyomni Falls on the Mississippi River and focuses on modern Indigenous food.
Sherman has won multiple James Beard awards.
