Journey Bringing Freedom Tour to Sioux City, Rapid City in 2024
You've got a pair of chances to see a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band early next year.
Journey has just announced a new round of shows for their 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour 2024 featuring very special guest Toto.
The two bands will play back-to-back nights in our area - Wednesday, February 28 in Sioux City and Thursday, February 29 in Rapid City.
Journey got their start in 1973 in San Francisco when guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Greg Rollie broke off from Santana to launch the new band.
They enjoyed limited success through their first three albums, but after adding lead singer Steve Perry in 1977, put their next seven albums in the Top 20, including the chart-topping Escape album in 1981.
Perry left the band in 1996 and for the last 16 years, Arnel Pineda has handled the lead vocals.
Journey was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
Toto will open for Journey on this tour.
They got their start as a group of former studio musicians in Los Angeles in 1977.
Unlike Journey, Toto had immediate success, putting their debut album into the Top Ten in 1978.
Since then they have had three other Top 40 albums and have sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
The Sioux City show will take place at the Tyson Events Center.
The Rapid City show will take place at the Summit Arena at The Monument.
