Never think you are being too cautious or paranoid when it comes to the safety of you and your family

We all know winter is just around the corner - summer is over, and already temps are slowly falling. So we also know it feels good to turn up the heat and have your house nice and warm when you get home from work. It's not something we tend to sit around and worry about, but maybe we should.

What is one of the leading causes of a house fire? What would you guess?

You probably even have a few of these at work, right by your desk, or in a tight hallway - portable heaters are one of the leading causes of house fires - of course, most of these are handy to have around, they don't take up too much space, and they get the job done, as in they put out a lot of heat. They also demand your attention - according to FEMA  "Although trending downward since the early 1980s, heating fires remained the second leading cause of home fires in 2021. An estimated 32,200 home heating fires were reported to fire departments within the United States. These fires caused an estimated 190 deaths, 625 injuries and $442 million in property loss"  40% of fatal home fires were caused by portable heaters.

Saving money is always good, however preventing possible loss of lives is much better, don't you think?

Space heaters can save you money - true to that - but they can also be dangerous if you have them in the wrong areas. Stay warm - and be safe.
