BisMan Wants To Know – When Will The Madness Return?
That day will be talked about for years to come here in Bismarck and Mandan
The question will be " Where were you on Wednesday, July 16th of 2025?" If you were in your car that day and you were driving anywhere close to Bismarck and Mandan, no doubt you were either caught in the nightmare traffic that literally crippled us all. Some people say they were stuck for hours and that the cars were lined up for miles.
A chip-sealing project on the 94 was the culprit
I was lucky enough not to get caught up in the snarl, according to bismarcktribune.com "Traffic at times on westbound I-94 was bumper-to-bumper from east Bismarck to Mandan, traveling at a snail's pace, and extensive traffic jams occurred on Expressway -- at times from I94 all the way to the Washington Street intersection -- on Liberty Memorial Bridge, on Main Street in Bismarck and on The Strip in Mandan, where another large construction project was
already impacting motorists"
The running gag that day was that "Bismarck Airport was offering flights from Bismarck to Mandan." I'm pretty sure that those who were stuck failed to see the humor in that last joke
There is some good news about that day
Some serious daylight ahead - check this out, according to kfyrtv.com "Two weeks ago, a construction project from the North Dakota Department of Transportation (DOT) caused multiple traffic jams along I-94 between Bismarck and Mandan. Now, the DOT has rescheduled the project for next year" .....Until then it's SMOOTH SAILING on the highways!!!
