It can and does happen in a blink of an eye

This could happen while enjoying a Larks baseball game at the ballpark or a quiet family gathering at your favorite restaurant. A frightening moment when an attempt to swallow something while you are eating gets stuck in your throat or windpipe. I experienced this years ago when I worked at a steak and seafood place  - a man stood up, his face beet-red, and he was gasping for air - he was choking to death. Thanks to some safety meetings we had prior, I performed the Heimlich maneuver, and the piece of prime rib came dislodged. It happened so fast, and I will never forget it. I believe EVERYONE should be taught how to do this.

"Ahh come on now, EVRYONE?"

Yes. it should be taught in schools - it's not difficult to learn and saves lives. Ok, so you're not in school anymore, there are resources you can try - such as checking out the North Dakota Health & Human Services. North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services 600 East Boulevard Ave Bismarck, ND         Here is an example:

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer - the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help.
