I have a friend here in Bismarck who has told me about this man for over a year now

Her name is Imabelle Kraft. She and her husband Travis and all the Kraft family are celebrating an amazing day today - May 1st. His name is Al Kraft, and this man is incredible. Yes, he was born 100 years ago today - May 1st, 1924. I want to share some really beautiful words that his grand daughter Imabelle sent me:

"Grandpa Al"

Grandpa Al was born on May 1, 1924, and grew up in Strasburg, ND. He is a US Air Force veteran. He loves ice fishing and hunting. At 99, he harvested a deer with one shot to the head at 250 yards. The deer was in a frontal position looking directly at him and dropped immediately. I personally think this is truly a #NDLegendary hunting milestone.

Grandpa Al was a well-respected custom home builder in Bismarck, Mandan and nearby ND towns. He also built the East 40 Restaurant, currently known as 40 Steak + Seafood. I admire his brilliance, ingenuity, dedication and the hard work he put into all his projects.
The wonderful stories Grandpa Al has told me about his childhood, family, and friends in Strasburg have encouraged me to know the history and culture of his ancestors - the Germans from Russia. Their perseverance and resilience in the early 20th century are truly inspiring. They make me appreciate how easy and comfortable life in this modern world is. I cannot even imagine myself living in the Dirty Thirties.
Grandpa's father, Pius emigrated to the US in 1906. Grandpa Al has a high regard for his father who was a successful businessman, and a very respectable leader in the community. He fondly talks about his favorite German-Russian dishes that his mother, Agatha and his wife, Adeline used to cook such as rivel soup, blachinda, knoephla, borsch soup, and the like"
Now I will speak foir myself and many, many others...
...Thank you sir for your service - have yourself a wonderful day with your loved ones - Happy 100th Birthday!
