Always sad to hear of any business in Bismarck/Mandan closing its doors for good

I recall a hot summer night about two years ago, aboard the famous Lewis & Clark riverboat, drifting back to land and gazing at a cool-looking restaurant that looked so cozy and comfortable. The name of the place - Huckleberry House, right there on the Missouri River - 1700 River Rd, Bismarck, ND

Its website said it all, inviting, and special

"Step into our house, where Nordic culinary traditions meet contemporary elegance in a riverside setting. Our restaurant, inspired by an 1800s boathouse, features two levels of indoor and outdoor dining. Enjoy the fusion of modern Nordic dishes, inventive cocktails, and classic design elements for a distinctive dining experience by the river." The perfect place to enjoy a drink and maybe an appetizer while watching another beautiful sunset. "nestled inside the landing on the Missouri, a restaurant by Chef Cody Monson - modern comfort dishes inspired by North Dakotan & scandinavian tradition."

Sadly, a wonderful place like this appears to have closed its doors for the last time

This post from their FB page on New Year's Eve:

"...as we step into a new year, we’re taking a pause.
huckleberry house is closing to the public for regular service starting 12/31/25 while we take time to reflect and assess next steps.
we’re deeply grateful for the love, support, and memories shared within these walls.
we’ll share updates when we’re able"
A fellow employee here at the radio station brought up a good point: construction from the bridge, and so much of the parking lot taken up by all the work going on, had to be a major factor in the restaurant losing business. Only time will tell if another business will eventually take over.
