Mandan’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb – NEVER FORGET
On this Wednesday - September 11, 2024 - we woke up to the memories of what happened 23 years ago
On a clear, beautiful sunny Tuesday morning in New York City thousands of lives were lost to the unimaginable horror of terrorism. As our nation, the whole world watched, the World Trade Center towers collapsed after planes had slammed into them - of the lives that were lost that day, many of them were firefighters racing up the 110 stories in an attempt to save others. America was under attack.
To this very day, emotions run high watching the events that STILL seemed impossible
Yet time goes by - 23 years ago many of us wondered if our lives would ever be the same. I know for a fact that I WILL NEVER FORGET. That feeling is the same way for the Mandan City Fire Department. This morning they honored the bravery and sacrifice of the firefighters and first responders who perished that morning at the Starion Sports Complex located at 111 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:45. a.m.
"The 9/11 Stair Climb is not only a tribute to the firefighters...
... who gave their lives 23 years ago but also a reflection of the spirit of service that defines our profession, We climb to honor those who climbed before us and to remind ourselves of the importance of courage, unity, and resilience.” said Battalion Chief Shane Weltikol - Proceeds from the stair climb will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), an organization that provides support to the families of fallen firefighters and works to reduce firefighter deaths in the line of duty.
Once again, NEVER FORGET.
