Taking Her Life Back – A Recovering Addict In Bismarck
RECOVERING - We are never fully RECOVERED - it's a wonderful journey of sobriety...
...and 40-year-old Jerianne Galusha is living every day to its fullest. She exemplifies what hard work and WILLINGNESS are all about. A Bismarck native, Jerianne has experienced so much in her life when it comes to beating herself up - spending a great deal of time behind bars due to 17 State Felonies ( 2 Federal Felonies as well ) - This could have been a tragic story of another addict giving up on life - and giving up on herself. This young lady has a mission, to give back freely to those suffering, their lives spiraling out of control.
"Mom we thought we lost you..."
A mother of four, her kids have gone through the terrorizing process of pain, disappointment, worry, and anger - living with an addict- Over a year now Jerianne has been sober ( 7-15-23 is her sobriety birthday ) - in that time frame she has regained trust with her kids- "Mom we thought we lost you..." I had a chance to talk with this wonderfully strong woman this afternoon on the phone - "My desire was always there to get help - to stop using, but I didn't know how or where to find resources..."
The Healing Hearts Lodge & Women’s Sober Lodge of MHA saved her life

Today she is a house manager - she is helping save lives
Today Jerianne is a house manager - she helps out with the 40 women residents -everything from holding others accountable - and supporting others in meetings -and room checks - she is living her life by doing what addicts and alcoholics do in recovery - sharing her experience, strength, and hope. "I ask those that come to me for advice, to seek comfort - "ARE YOU WILLING TO SURRENDER?" - that is THE first step to taking back your life - like Jerianne Galusha -
September is National Recovery Month
"Everything is not all peachy & rosey", she told me, but when you have a clear head, and you realize just how important you are to others, your kids, to YOURSELF - the journey of sobriety is a true gift.
Thank you Jerianne, and Healing Hearts Lodge & Women’s Sober Lodge of MHA -so amazing - and to anyone out there who is battling their demons, just know that there ARE resources and people who can help save your life
