What Did You Do Today? Bet You Didn’t Do This Here In Bismarck
On this late Monday morning, I took a nice leisurely drive over to the Bismarck Event Center
What turned out to be simply picking up some concert tickets, I came across one of my biggest fears in life - heights. I walked into the Bismarck Event Center main floor with Amanda Yellow ( Sales and Marketing Manager ) and first several noises coming from high above ( as in at least 75-100 feet ) - this is where my knees got wobbly.
"Everybody is coming through the Civic Center to get reps away from the training facility"
"Rope rescue capability - practice rigging, rappelling..." is part of what Captain Martinez told me this morning - Bismarck Fire - all the engine companies from the city came out. I was so impressed by the ease and comfort they each showed while swinging from a rope what looked like a mile up in the rafters. They do this quarterly, by the way.
"We do this as much as we can"
I could tell by the smile on his face how much Captain Martinez loves his job and the people he works with - "Rope is one of the FUN things we get to do, all of the other crews do it as much as they can - we have a pretty competent team, group of guys like rescue professionals when it comes to rope - everybody is good at it within the organization"
A personal thank you to every one of the guys who shook my hand, huge thanks to Amanda
My fear is heights, and these guys were dancing in the clouds ( Rafters ) with smiles on their faces - thank you for keeping us safe 24/7.
