North Dakota, Are You Going To America’s 2nd Largest State Fair?
While the North Dakota State Fair is over, there's another one close to us that just kicked off last week...and it's huge.
You might be surprised to learn this, but the Minnesota State Fair is the second-largest state fair in the country. It comes in second to Texas' State Fair, which, if you think about it, is kind of insane.
Did you know the Minnesota State Fair has a nickname? Many people call it "The Great Minnesota Get-Together. Below, I've listed the top 5 (biggest) state fairs in the country as of 2023, according to Jsonline.com. Note: "The Big E" is the New England State Fair.
- State Fair of Texas (2.3 million visitors)
- Minnesota State Fair (1.8 million visitors)
- Arizona State Fair (1.4 million visitors)
- The Big E (1.4 million visitors)
- Iowa State Fair (1.1 million visitors)
Fair Food
In my opinion, the thing that really makes a fair amazing is the food. The Minnesota State Fair has some of the BEST food.
Minnesota Monthly put together a list of some of the best foods at the fair this year (2024).
They listed everything from peanut butter bacon cakes, piggy pals on a stick, to lobster eclairs. YUM!
If you go, you have to try as much as possible.
Grandstand Lineup
The lineup this year is definitely exciting.
Tonight, 8/27, Ludacris and T-Pain will take the grandstand stage.
John Pardi with special guest Dillon Carmichael are up next tomorrow, then Motley Crue, Matchbox 20, and Stephen Sanchez will perform each of the following days.
The fair will end on Labor Day, Sept, with a special performance for the kids, Kidz Bop Live.
Other Awesome Attractions
While many of us go to the fair for the food and musical acts, there's so much more to do.
Some of the other attractions you might want to check out: the butterfly house, the haunted house, the krazy maze, the skyglider, and space tower.
