This Christmas Decoration Is Banned In North Dakota
You might be the type of person who waits until after Thanksgiving to put up your holiday decorations, but I know many of us are already putting up the tree and lighting up our homes.
You might not have known this, but there is one decoration you won't see around North Dakota this year, and for good reason.
In August of 2023, the United States Energy Department put a ban on incandescent light bulbs. Decades ago, these were very popular Christmas lights. They have since been phased out of stores. Now, we're two years into the ban.

Not just in North Dakota, but consumers all across the country will only be able to purchase LED lights for their Christmas trees.
If you're wondering why incandescent and halogen light bulbs were banned, USAToday.com says there are a few reasons. One of these reasons is to encourage Americans to use more energy-efficient LED bulbs.
According to USAToday.com, these bulbs convert 90 percent of their energy into heat, rather than light, which isn't very energy-efficient. Not only that, but because of this, they cause fires.
So why aren't we using these bulbs anymore? It boils down to efficiency and safety.
I'm sure this news is no bother to you; you've been using LED lights for years, as they've been slowly phasing out incandescent bulbs. But hey, the more you know.
Thanks for reading and happy holidays!
