Denny’s to Close 150 Locations: Will North Dakota Be Affected?
All-day breakfasts and late-night comfort food -- Denny's is a beloved diner chain here in our North Dakota communities.
It was announced earlier last week that several Denny's restaurants would be closing all across the US.
While the parent company has stated that declining sales contributed to the decision.
This is an issue many chain restaurants are dealing with at this time. We've recently heard that Applebee's and Red Lobster were also struggling with this and planning closures.

We have to keep in mind, that consumer habits are shifting, costs are rising, and the restaurant industry is a very competitive one.
According to TimeOut.com, the company plans to close 50 of the stores by the end of this year (2024) and the rest will be closing by the end of 2025.
Closing In North Dakota
According to Business Insider, approximately 150 locations are slated to close, which has many of us asking, will North Dakota lose any Denny's locations?
We actually only have three Denny's restaurants throughout the entire state; we have one in Fargo, one in Bismarck, and another in Minot.
The parent company has not yet revealed which Denny's locations will be closing. Business Insider gives us hope, by saying urban areas will more than likely see stores close, as there are multiple restaurants/restaurant options in cities, smaller cities/communities may be more profitable with there being fewer dining options.
North Dakota diners will just have to wait until Denny's releases the full list to see if we will be affected. Let's hope we don't lose any in our state!
