Minot City Pound Moving To New Location Next Month

Anyone who's had a runaway dog knows the drill all too well. When you notice your dog is missing, the first thing you do is call the local pound to see if they rounded up your furry friend. If this happens to you frequently, you might want to read this before you hop into your car to pick up your dog.

New Minot City Pound Location & Moving Date

The Minot Pound is moving to a new location next month. The Minot Pound has been operating out of a temporary location for some time, at the Ward County highway building. Starting September 1st, the puppies and caretakers will pack up and move to a Trinity Health warehouse along 4th Avenue Southeast.

The lease starts September 1st at $3,500 a month. According to KFYR, the city plans to add fencing, electrical upgrades, and cameras before the animals move in.

According to Minot Daily News, it's been a bumpy road for the Minot pound, as its dog count peaked to 24 over Memorial Day weekend, which is well above (double) its 12-dog limit. This prompted the county to approve a capacity increase through September while the city looked for something more permanent. Under Trinity, there is no cap on how many dogs can be housed.
