UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory, as I mentioned earlier today would be likely, is now in effect from 7 am Wednesday, April 1st until 7 pm Thursday, April 2nd. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches. Winds could gust as high as 35 miles per hour which could cause significant blowing and drifting snow.

Areas Included in the Winter Weather Advisory

This includes the counties of Burleigh, Morton, Grant, Kidder, Sioux, Emmons, Oliver, McLean, Logan, and McIntosh in our listening area.

Impacts

Plan on slippery roads conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. This could impact your commutes both Wednesday morning and afternoon, and Thursday morning.

Colorado Lows are Coming to North Dakota

Remember that perfect weekend of weather we just had in the Capital Region? That is about to become a distant memory. Today will be a reminder of how quickly things can change in North Dakota when it comes to the weather.

Not an April Fools' Joke

We broke the news last week that we could be in for a bumpy ride this week with several chances for accumulating snow. Even the National Weather Service in Bismarck is echoing that statement. Take a look at their latest forecast. It remembles something you would see in February.

The snow chances begin tomorrow on Wednesday, April 1st (again, not an April Fools Joke) but the main event appears to be Thursday and Friday in the Bismarck-Mandan area. Not many weather agencies are making snow predicitions at this point, because it is very difficult to determine this time of year due to several factors like how long it will take for the precipitation to turn over from rain to snow. The Weather Channel is saying around 3 inches for the Captial Region.

The good news, it doesn't appear that their will be a lot of wind with these Colorado Lows. However, I would expect at the very least that Winter Weather Advisories will be issued sometime over the next couple of days.

The Bismarck Bubble's Take

Here's what our friends at the Bismarck Bubble have to say about this potential mess.

I myself, refuse to shovel March snow, let alone April snow, but these systems could at the very least cause some difficulites with travel, and that's not good news with people traveling for the easter weekend.

We will continue to keep you update on air with our meterologists from Severe Studios, and right here.
