ND Landowners & Hunters: Changes In E-Posting You Need To Know
Electronic Posting in North Dakota Changes
The state of North Dakota adopted e-posting back when lawmakers passed a bill in 2021. I'm not going to say that everyone has been a fan of this new law (both landowners and hunters), but for the most part, it was a good compromise.
Many landowners would argue it's their private land, and that all land should automatically be posted. Other landowners say they don't want to be bothered by hunters, especially during harvest, and if it's not posted, it's that way for a reason, and you are free to hunt.
Electronic Hunting is the Middle Ground Between the Two
I know for a fact that numerous states around the country have been watching North Dakota's e-posting to see if it works. We have been the beta; North Dakota was the first state to adopt electronic posting.
Changes in E-Posting This Year-2026
The changes now give landowners 3 options when it comes to posting their land electronically. They can post for the deer rifle season only from November 6th to November 22nd, or post through the end of the deer rifle season, August 1st to November 22nd, and finally, post their land through the whole period, which is August 1st to July 31st. Previously, this was the only way for landowners to post their land electronically.
With these additional two options, it's hoped this will open up some more opportunities for hunters.
New Way to Communicate with Landowners
You can still reach out to landowners on the electronic posting app if they list their email or phone number. In addition, you can now communicate with landowners inside the app if they have that option turned on.
There you have it, a few new features when it comes to electronic posting in North Dakota, designed to open up more opportunities. I have just one question. Is it hunting season yet? I can't wait.
