North Dakota Has One Of The 40 Most Charming Downtowns In USA
HGTV knows a thing or two about charm.
I enjoy watching their fixer-upper shows and other programming they have to offer, the do-it-yourself kind of guy that I am.
An article from HGTV caught my eye recently, "The 40 most charming small-town downtowns in each state".
Their definition of charm would be the hidden gems in each state. The towns with quaint shops and restaurants, fascinating histories, fun experiences, and natural beauty.
That pretty much sums up one town in North Dakota completely. I'm guessing you have it figured out, too, by now.
Before I spill the beans on the obvious choice for North Dakota, let's run down the most charming small town downtowns in our neighboring states.
South Dakota: Deadwood! A favorite getaway spot for so many in the Bismarck/Mandan area. A gold mining town in the Black Hills with so much history and plenty of gaming opportunities.
Minnesota: No town made the list? I'm very surprised by this. Plenty of small town downtown charm in Lakes Country.
Montana: Livingston! A small-town downtown that wows with plentiful mountain views. Livingston, located in southwest Montana, was once a prosperous railroad town that still has a wild west feel.
And that brings us to one of the 40 MOST charming small town downtowns in America from North Dakota: Medora!
Medora, the small town downtown that will help you find your inner cowboy (or cowgirl). Medora has old west charm, the Medora Musical, and of course, the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
HGTV went on to say in the article that you should visit the Old Town Theater and the Rough Riders Hotel, where Theodore Roosevelt himself once stayed.
And of course, the Medora Musical.
I couldn't agree more. We have numerous charming small towns with beautiful downtowns in North Dakota. Linton, Oakes, and Garrison, just to mention a few, but Medora is the best of the best. Tough to argue that. Wait a minute, I'm sure there's a Karen or two that will.
