North Dakota Has A Top 25 Hidden Gem Restaurant In America
Do you have a favorite off-the-beaten-path restaurant in North Dakota?
We have a lot of good ones, that's for sure. I love my cafes and restaurants that often serve up breakfast all day long. I love my eggs, bacon, and hash browns any time of day.
A few of my personal favorite "hole in the wall" restaurant joints include:
The Cedar Inn Family Restaurant- Devils Lake, North Dakota.
This restaurant/cafe is located right off Highway 2 in Devils Lake. I have fond memories of this place thanks to numerous early morning duck hunting trips when I was a boy.
I'm not sure what they do to their hashbrowns that makes them better than any other hashbrowns you'll eat at a restaurant, but they sure go down easily.
Kroll's Diner- Mandan-Bismarck, North Dakota.
I don't think I've ever had bad eggs from a Kroll's, and that's saying something. Always made to perfection. I also love the atmosphere at Krolls, it just screams breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Grama Butterworks-Grand Forks, North Dakota.
If you love pancakes and waffles, this is your breakfast nirvana. Some of the best I've ever had. This joint closes at 2 pm, so this truly is mostly a breakfast restaurant.
Little Cottage Cafe-Bismarck, North Dakota.
Great breakfast, but the BEST, and I mean best of the best, when it comes to caramel rolls. Even our listeners crowned Little Cottage caramel roll kings.

And now, according to an article on Love Food, "2025's The 50 Best Hole-In-The-Wall restaurant in North Dakota is...
The title goes to Darcy's Cafe in Grand Forks at #25!
The top 25 in the country! Not too shabby.
This little cafe out-kicks its coverage when it comes to the quality of the food and the size of the portions, according to the article.
If you want a table, you'd better get there early, as they tend to fill up fast. Darcy's serves breakfast all day and is also known for their pancakes and cinnamon rolls.
They are speaking my language. Next time you're in the eastern part of the state, Darcy's Cafe might be worth a stop!
